11 Geocaching iPhone Apps Worth Finding PDF Print E-mail
Written by VegasCachers

Via The Apple Blog

The proliferation of handheld GPS units has resulted in a geocaching craze. If you’re not familiar with the sport, here’s the scoop. People venture out with GPS devices and look for containers hidden in the great outdoors by other geocachers. Once found, you jot your name in the logbook, put the container back where you found it, and go find another. Think of it as a pumped-up version of the treasure hunts we used to go on as kids.

Since iPhones come equipped with GPS capabilities, it’s no surprise there’s been a recent jump in geocaching apps and tools available in the App Store, many of which nicely complement the open source geocaching apps already available for your computer. There are dozens of iPhone apps to choose from, but here are eleven good ones to get you started. Happy hunting!

Book Of Lies Geocache PDF Print E-mail

HOLLYWOOD, FL (PRWEB) May 28, 2009  -- With this week’s paperback release of his latest novel, THE BOOK OF LIES, New York Times bestselling author BRAD MELTZER (The Tenth Justice, The Book of Fate) has teamed up with the Masonic Geocaching Society to launch the first GPS treasure hunting game to accompany a novel.

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share experiences online.

THE BOOK OF LIES geocache is a series of 11 caches in the Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia area that are based on THE BOOK OF LIES, Meltzer’s latest novel. It's a collaboration of the Masonic Geocaching Society and Meltzer, with johnnycache and Sue-Cat coordinating placement, cache pages and puzzle creation.

Many of the caches in the series will be puzzles that require finders to seek them in order (individual caches will state pre-requisites if applicable). The final cache in the series will be a puzzle that will require clues from caches in the series to solve.  To play this geocache, visit http://www.BradMeltzer.com for details.
