During the Veterans Day weekend, November 11 - 13, recreation-related fees for visitors to lands administered by the Nevada BLM will be waived. Some fees will remain in effect - overnight camping, cabin rentals, and group day use fees. Other federal lands will also be observing the same fee-free days. For example, the National Park Service will open over 100 units in its system, including Death Valley National Park and Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada. Check the websites for information about lands administered by other federal agencies.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Fee Free Weekend

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in conjunction with other agencies within the Department of the Interior, will waive recreation-related fees for January 14-16.

In conjunction with other agencies within the Department of the Interior, BLM will waive recreation-related fees for visitors to the National System of Public Lands on several additional days in 2012 - Get Outdoors Day (June 9), National Public Lands Day (September 29) and Veteran’s Day weekend (November 10 to 12). These fee-free days also apply to areas managed within the BLM’s National Landscape Conservation System. Other fees, such as overnight camping, cabin rentals, and group day use, will remain in effect.

I have lived here for 17yrs and have never made it out to the Rock, Think I may make the trip monday and grab some caches there to see what its all about. Then maybe grab the yearly pass if I enjoy it.

I've purchased the annual pass twice now, but I can't remember what I did with the current one. I'm not buying another pass until the expiration date of the one I misplaced has come and gone. So I will be using the free day tomorrow to pick up a couple of caches.

The wife and I took advantage of the free entry today. We parked at the Willow Springs Picnic Area and hiked in so I could grab GCHCG6, LMS Tomb Raider Cache. That was my first time out in that area of Red Rock. I placed a new cache and found the cache I was after. A nice way to spend almost 3 hours!

Too bad they picked a weekend when the weather is suppose to be crappy!

I bought a Golden Age Passport at Redrock Canyon a few years ago and it has saved me hundreds of dollars in park fees. If you are retired it is a great deal.

Almost everytime I have been in the Red Rock area I came from the other side. I have never spent much time on the east side except for passing through. I guess one of these days I will have to get out there and do some walking/hiking.
